Alcohol Ink Christmas Ornament: Ink Inside
I was getting my work area tidy b4 my day job (work area being the center of the kitchen), and I could not resist trying out my new Adirondak Ink "pool blue" on a unsuspecting ornament. Yep, my fingers are now blue for work, I was just going to try out one drop....
I added pool blue, wild plum, boat blue, and another blue. Seemed like silver fixative was a good idea. I used the computer key board duster to mix at times. I realized that with the air blaster you can control your blast to do just a little here and there. A straw works too, but not quite the same.
Then, because I REALLY like glitter, I added some crystal large glitter and it broke up the colors and gave it a marblesd look. I also added some fine pink glitter and found that it tended to be a sparkle factor.
I had to keep jostling them during drying to keep the effect I was looking for. In the bottom picture, on the right, you can see some of th pink glitter shining through. They are drying on my glitter tray....I like it better for drying non drippy stuff.
Be careful with using the compressed air in the ornaments as it can tend to shoot out what ever is in there like the paint and the glitter OR shoot the ornament out of your hand. :)
I did use it, at times, "rearrange" my glitter. What seemed to be most successful was adding paint, silver, and glitter iin a row several times until the effect is reached. Don't stop too soon. Keep adding...
BTW, I have found that the silver fixative tends to float on top of the ink while the gold tends to blend with the ink. It has really helped me when I remember that when I am putting colors together.
Happy Inking!!
